LeCheile Educate Together National School

Catholic Parents Group - Information for new parents & guardians

Background

In 2001, a group of Catholic parents with children in Le Chéile got together with a view to finding a way to provide religious instruction to their own children.  Since then, the amount of children attending religion classes outside of school hours has increased year on year.  In 2009/2010 there is a record number of children, with one hundred and eighty-one now attending classes.

Classes

Classes are available at the moment on Mondays, from October to May, at 3.15pm to 4.15pm or 4.30pm, for Junior Infants right through to 6th class.  In order to make the Sacraments as a group within Le Chéile FULL attendance at the classes is a pre-requisite from 1st through to 6th class.
We are very grateful to the school for allowing us to use its classrooms.
Teachers are recruited from other schools to teach the children.  A small fee is payable per child per class every term to cover expenses.

Responsibility

The religious instruction of a child is the responsibility of his / her parent(s) / guardian(s), and this is very much more so the case when the child attends a non-Catholic school.
The religious instruction classes organised by the C.P.G. can only take place with the full co-operation and participation of the parent(s) / guardian(s) of every child attending classes.  This means that a parent/guardian of each child must volunteer their time or organise cover between 3pm and 4.30pm one Monday in each term (twice a year), to help with the classes.
To be effective, the instruction must be supplemented and supported in the home.

Welcome

The C.P.G. looks forward to welcoming you and your child into the group.
