[mls_h2]ICT Project[/mls_h2]
We’re very excited about a new ICT project starting in the school. As phase 1 of the project we have purchased 15 laptops and a purpose build Laptop Trolley for use in the classrooms. The laptops will be used to support the learning environment as a tool to enable the students find information, produce content, and share it with the school community. Further phases of the project will see more ICT equipment purchased and new uses e.g. multimedia production. We will be looking for help at various stages from the Parent community, so let us know if you would like to get involved, or if you’d like to learn more yourself !
[mls_h2]Website Usage[/mls_h2]
Since the new look website was launched in February 2013, we’ve all been working hard to keep it updated with useful and relevant information. A HUGE thanks must go out to Susie from the PTA for keeping you all informed of what’s going on. I took a look at how much the website was used in the 4 school months from September to December and was amazed at the statistics. Here’s some interesting (?) stats:
- On average, 3500 visits per month !
- The busiest day was Sep 4th, when there was 1500 hits in 1 day !
- The most popular browser is Safari (Apple)
[mls_h2]Smartphone Users[/mls_h2]
[singlepic id=30 w=190 h=300 float=right]As the use of Smartphones continues to explode, we have made the website more mobile friendly by putting a special website design in place for Smartphone users. The mobile design gives a simpler, cleaner layout in a single column making it easier to find the latest article on a small screen. You’ll still see the same design on your desktop. We are also investigating the possibility of producing apps for both iPhone and Android – hopefully we’ll have more news on that soon.
[mls_h2]e-mail Notifications[/mls_h2]
Already, 98 people have signed up for email notifications. This simple and handy service sends you an email everytime a new article is loaded on the website. It gives you a preview of the first few lines and a link you can follow to see the full article on the website. Now that we’ve also launched a mobile friendly version of the website, articles should be even easier to read. We are also updating our school records to ensure we have email addresses for all families as we will continue to move towards electronic communication.
