Board of Management

The Board of Management consists of 8 members and operates with Educate Together as Patron The Board must uphold the characteristic spirit (ethos) of the school and is accountable to the Patron for so doing.

The Role of the Board of Management

Boards of Management of primary schools are appointed for a four year term. The term of office for this Board of Management is from 1 December 2023 to 30 November 2027.
The Board manages the school on behalf of the Patron and is accountable to the Patron and the Minister. The Principal is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school, including guidance and direction of the teachers and other staff of the school, and is accountable to the Board for that management.
The Board of Management will adhere to the provisions of the Governance Manual for Primary Schools 2023-27.

The Board

Has Given permission for Educate Together to run their “Learn together” summer course for teachers, with Monica and Heather facilitating and permission for Susan McCullen to organise an additional week in July for Ukrainian refugees “Літній табір для українських дітей”

The audited accounts were reviewed and when clarified, they were ratified and have been submitted to the FFSU in a timely fashion.

Thank the PTA for organising the recent Quiz as a successful and enjoyable school fundraiser

is pleased that the PTA will review the school dress code and homework policy

Acknowledge that the outdoor lighting has been repaired and upgraded.

Note a small increase in support hours and will cluster with St. Joseph’s CBS, Sunday’s Gate. One of their teachers will attend here two days a week for the 24/25 school year.

- Notified with offer 1^st round offer by 19^th November 2024
- Parents must accept by 26^th November 2024
Please Note: Due to communication between the local schools these dates are now aligned, and parents must only accept one offer.

The Board

The Board
- Welcomes Sonia Nugent as Chair of the PTA and has given permission for the following fundraisers this year One Day Together, School Disco, Book Fair, 5 Week draw, Quiz Night.
- Encourage parents to attend the AGM on Thursady 28th and thank Susan and Monica for giving a presentation on RSE and Learn Together so that parents are informed of the policies and ethos of the school.
- Has completed the Annual Anti-Bullying.
- Has given permission for Sadhbh to set up a homework club, more information to follow from her.
- Reviewed the income and expendiure for the last school year and approved the Budget for the year ahead.
- Acknowledge receipt of letters from Forsa, concerning working conditions of SNAs.
- Examined the School Improvement Plan in Wellbeing and welcome parental involvement in the area of wellbeing over the next three years.

The New Board of Management has been constituted.

Roger Stanley will take on the role of treasurer and Susan McCullen will continue as recoding secretary.

The Board
- Will proceed to fill a vacant post for Assistant Principal 2 by internal competition.
- Has given permission for Chillkids classes on Thursdays at 3pm and an additional Lingotots class on Mondays at 4pm from January.
- Has examined and ratified an updated whole school Learn Together Plan.
- Has ratified procedures for email communication, which will be communicated to parents shortly.
- Has completed the annual review of the Child Protection Procedures with one amendment with regard to 6^th class buddies on the yard.
- Has discussed the Department of Social Protection (DSP) provision of funding towards the provision of food services for school children under the School Meals(Local Projects) Programme. As the principal had previously expressed an interest, the school has been offered the opportunity to rollout Hot School Meals from April 2024.
- The Board notes that there be increased volume of administrative duties and possible cost to the school involved e.g. public procurement, service agreements, distribution, waste management, record -keeping etc and is grateful to the principal for taking on this additional workload. More information will follow at the end of Term 2.
- Has accepted the resignation of temporary SNA Maeve O’ Sullivan and wish her well as she moves to a new position and will now proceed to fill the vacancy.
