Copper Pots Fundraiser
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We hope you all had a lovely Easter break.
We have 3 very exciting fundraising events coming up this year – the first of which starts next week. But before we get into the details, we’d like to tell you what we are planning to raise the money for.
It’s hard to believe that Le Chéile is now in its 9th year in our new building! Due to constant use and general wear & tear, many of our overhead projectors and classroom laptops are not working correctly. Getting these repaired is costing a lot of money and many need to be replaced. The updated interactive board turns a typical classroom into a fun learning environment. It enriches classrooms in several ways by providing hands on collaboration and creating an enhanced learning setting. We also need new laptops, and visualisers for some of the classrooms and educational software. We are still getting quotations for this project, but we know it will be in in the ball park of €30,000 for all 16 classrooms!
So, we have a huge task ahead of us, but we know as a community, we can do it! We may not get it all raised this year, but we would hope we can reach our goal over the next 2 years.
The first of our event for this year is ‘Copper Pots’ – each classroom will get a collection bucket in their room from next Monday, 16th April. Over 2 weeks, the children can bring in all the coppers they can find at home and put them in their classes’ buckets. At the end of the 2nd week, all buckets will be counted. Whichever class collects the most coppers, wins a class prize! This could be homework passes or Golden time – it’s up to the children and their teacher to decide. The children don’t need to bring in all their coppers in one day – they can split them up over the 2 weeks to avoid making the heavy bags even heavier. It’s not just your coppers they can bring in – Grandparents and other family members might have a jar of coppers that they would be willing to part with too! Euro coins are also acceptable!
The second event, before the summer, we’ll be hosting a Fleadh event in the school. This will be a sponsored children’s event – more details to follow shortly.
Finally, our Main Event this year will be in November … but we are starting preparations for this now and we’ll need lots of (brave) support from the parents! This will be a parent evening which could potentially raise a substantial amount. More details to follow shortly.
Many thanks for your continued support – much appreciated.
Best Wishes,
FRC
