Board of Management

The Board of Management consists of 8 members and operates with Educate Together as Patron The Board must uphold the characteristic spirit (ethos) of the school and is accountable to the Patron for so doing.

The Role of the Board of Management

Boards of Management of primary schools are appointed for a four year term. The term of office for this Board of Management is from 1 December 2023 to 30 November 2027.
The Board manages the school on behalf of the Patron and is accountable to the Patron and the Minister. The Principal is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school, including guidance and direction of the teachers and other staff of the school, and is accountable to the Board for that management.
The Board of Management will adhere to the provisions of the Governance Manual for Primary Schools 2023-27.

The Board

Has Given permission for Educate Together to run their “Learn together” summer course for teachers, with Monica and Heather facilitating and permission for Susan McCullen to organise an additional week in July for Ukrainian refugees “Літній табір для українських дітей”

The audited accounts were reviewed and when clarified, they were ratified and have been submitted to the FFSU in a timely fashion.

Thank the PTA for organising the recent Quiz as a successful and enjoyable school fundraiser

is pleased that the PTA will review the school dress code and homework policy

Acknowledge that the outdoor lighting has been repaired and upgraded.

Note a small increase in support hours and will cluster with St. Joseph’s CBS, Sunday’s Gate. One of their teachers will attend here two days a week for the 24/25 school year.

The Board has

ratified the Holidays for the next school year 2024/25.

- Opens 1^st October 2024
- Ceases accepting 5^th November 2024
- Notified with offer 1^st round offer by 19^th November 2024
- Parents must accept by 26^th November 2024
Please Note: Due to communication between the local schools these dates are now aligned, and parents must only accept one offer.

The Board

Agreed Statement to the School Community July 24
The Board

congratulate our 6^th class pupils on the completion of their primary school education and wish them every success in the future.

would like to thank their teachers this year Susan Savage and Sarah and to all the staff who have worked with them over the years.

would like to thank the parent body for your support during the year and are very grateful for the fundraising and events that took place over the year which greatly help and contribute to the school.

has re-applied for the hot school meals and completed an income and expenditure account for the Dept of Social Protection.

has examined a detailed analysis of attendance and is concerned that the numbers of days missed has not returned to pre-pandemic levels. Over the full school year
- 4% of pupils attended regularly i.e. missed 9 days or less
- 8% of pupils were at risk of chronic absenteeism, missed between 10 and 18 school days
- 9% of pupils were chronically absent, missed more than 19 days
The months of September and October had good attendance but a pattern of missing many days then emerged. June was by far the worst. Holidays in term time should be avoided. The Board would like to encourage better attendance next year.

Congratulate the 6^th class chess and basketball teams on their recent victories and to the pupisl who participated in the recent Talent Show. Thank you to Heather and the Students’ Council.

Reviewed the standardised testing results and they are in line with other years, with bell-curves in both literacy and numeracy being above average.

Note the reduction in the amount of the schoolbook grant given and remind parents that they should purchase their child’s own stationery as per the information sent from the school office.
