Erasmus+ Project – Launch Assembly
Erasmus+ Project – Launch Assembly
On Monday 4th October, both sixth classes took part in an exciting assembly which saw them launch Le Chéile’s Erasmus+ project, Magic and Myths Unite Europe. This was no easy task, as no such project has ever been undertaken in Le Chéile. They showcased their fantastic projects based on our partner countries- Finland, Greece, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Romania and Cyprus.
Heather’s class was first up. They gave a brief introduction to the background of an Erasmus+ project and explained our title, Magic and Myths Unit Europe. Then in small groups, they introduced the school to some of our partner countries. We heard about pink porridge from Finland, the weather in Cyprus and the composers of Italy. We were treated to a recital of some beautiful Italian music by Taidhg.
Fiona’s class spoke to us about the remainder of partners. They performed their own drama based on the Greek legend of Athena. We also heard about some legends from Romania- has anyone ever heard of Dracula? We also listened to some music from Turkey and learned about some tasty Spanish foods like paella.
At the end of the assembly, sixth class invited the entire school to take part in a logo competition. All children were asked to design their own logo for the project, based on the theme Magic and Myths Unite Europe. Le Chéile’s winning logo will be brought to Turkey, where designs from all partner schools will be shown. The committee will then select the logo which represents the theme best.
Well done again to both sixth classes!
