Young talent shines at Christmas Concert
After some weeks of intense practice and preparation of props, parents, relatives and friends were treated to the annual festive Le Cheile concert which took place over two days.
There were plenty of sparkles, jingles and reindeer antlers to be seen topped off by a wide array of Christmas jumpers, hats, and even a few beards.
Our younger classes took to the stage with ease delivering a taste of poems as Gaelige followed by much-loved songs such as ‘Albuquerque the turkey’ and ‘Must be Santa’ to name a few…
Our senior classes took to the stage to present their Christmas productions, a combination of a modern reflection on the Christmas story, followed by a comical portrayal of the alternative Grimm Brothers fairy tales.
This year saw a special debut of the Le Cheile developing orchestra led by their music instructor Ailbhe. The budding musicians filled the school hall with sounds from their cellos, violins, flute, clarinet, and trombone, whilst the audience accompanied with the sound of Christmas bells.
Over 80 children from the School Choir performed a variety of songs, including a heart felt ‘Winter Song’ followed by a uniquely 12 Days of Le Cheile! The school choir led by devoted teacher Nicola brings together pupils from fourth, fifth and sixth class in their love for singing and performance.
Le Cheile is delighted to be already developing its own musical initiatives ahead of the government’s announcement earlier this month which promises to provide access to musical education within five years.
A big thank you to all the staff both teaching and non-teaching who prepared the children and organised the event, you the parents for your support and the children for providing so much entertainment for us all. We’re already looking forward to next year!
