A Very Special Visit!
On Wednesday we were so “eggcited” as John and his daddy, Tom, brought in 6 very special guests for us to meet.
Tom arrived with 6 tiny little chicks. He told us the chicks were only 1 week old. They were covered in soft yellow fluff but we could see that some of them were already starting to grow their white feathers and he told us that the chicks would start laying their own eggs when they are about 20 weeks old. Each chicken would lay about 300 eggs in a year…it’s a good job that John and his family enjoy them for their breakfast.
We all had a turn at petting the chicks. We had to be very, very careful as the chicks were so young and delicate.
A big THANK YOU to Tom for bringing them into our classroom…it really made our day.
