Fourth Class Peace Proms. 2016

Administrator News School Office

PEACE PROMS.  2016

Both Fourth Classes will be taking part in a musical education programme called “Peace Proms” this year. “Peace Proms” aims to entertain, educate and engage children and young people in music and to enrich their lives through exceptional musical experiences and performances.

The project objective is to help young people to develop qualities of self-reliance, personal integrity, responsibility, and confidence by giving them the opportunity to

•       perform with a full symphony orchestra

•       work with leading professional conductors and musicians

•       and perform in premier venues throughout Ireland

The project will culminate in a gala concert held in The RDS, on Feb 7th, in which all of the children will perform with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland. Some of Ireland’s top professional musicians will also perform in the concert.

The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland has been running Peace Proms and similar projects throughout Ireland and internationally for the past 19 years. The orchestra is supported by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht; the Department of Education and Skills and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
