13th October 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Themes for the 2016 Calendar

As you are aware, the school photographer will be in the school on Thursday, 15th October from 09h30, to take the photographs for the 2016 Le Cheile Calendar.

There has been some concern over some of the themes, so we have added extra options to February and April.  Please see details of themes below with suggestions:

 List of themes:

January – Winter/Fun in the Snow

Hats, scarves, snowman, skiing/snow activities, winter boots, coats, jumpers

February – Chinese New Year of the monkey ANDValentine’s Day

Dragons, Chinese lanterns, kimonos, Chinese umbrella, monkeys

Red hearts, red roses, Valentine’s cards, Love, red clothing

March – St. Patrick’s Day AND Easter

Shamrocks, Paddy’s day T-shirts, face paint, flags, green clothing

Easter eggs, Bunnies, Easter bonnet, baskets

April – Easter Rising centenary AND April Showers

With the Easter Rising, we are looking to paint a period picture – old clothing, flat caps, waistcoats, grandfather shirts & ties, tweed pants, shorts & long socks, old fashioned dresses with old patterns. Children playing hop scotch, old fashioned dolls & teddies. The look of downtown abbey servants.  Old gas lanterns (no gas of course).

April showers – raincoats, wellies, umbrellas.

May – Springtime

Lambs, flowers, gardening, birds

June –  School tours & sports day

Sports equipment, sports clothes, caps, runners

July – Summer Holidays

Beach, holidays, beach hats, towels, balls, shorts & T-shirts, sandals

August – Picnics, BBQs

Picnic baskets, blankets, floppy hats, BBQ apron, chef’s hat, BBQ utensils (safe ones)

September – Back to school

School bags, lunch boxes, books

October – Halloween AND Festival of Light (Diwali)

Pumpkins, lanterns, fancy dress, skeletons, any spooky

Festival of Light – India dress, traditional clothing, colourful, lanterns, colourful candle holders

November – Astronomy AND Thanksgiving

Telescopes, Stars, Moon, black and silver

Turkey, pumpkins, autumn colours, autumn leaves

December – Christmas

Red/white clothes, Christmas jumpers, Santa hats, presents, angels

If you have any props that we can use on the day, we would greatly appreciate it.  Please drop them into the school before 09h20 on Thursday morning.  Please label them clearly and we will return them with your child (if small) or you can collect them after 14h00 on the same day, or the following morning.

Many thanks!

FRC
