Minutes of last meeting & matters arising: Minutes adopted

Principal’s Report:

Total number of children in the school: 447

Number required to maintain existing staff: 426

  • Staffing for 2014-2015: All permanent staff at school except Claire Connaughton who is being replaced by Patricia Burke (5th class). Clodagh on maternity leave being replaced by Niamh Stapleton since 22nd Sept, (Special Education). Dolores O’Donoghue replacing Yvonne as SNA, on career break. Rachel and Nicola replacing Sandra and Denise who resigned their permanent positions.
  • Post holders of staff:

Rosemary: Deputy Principal, Yard Supervision, Book Rental Coordinator, receipt holder for resources purchased by teachers.

Kim: Green schools, early morning supervision, junior literacy

Monica: Maths, book rental, chess, P.E.

Emma: Special Education, Gaeilge

Maureen: Gaeilge, Student Council, art

School really feeling the effects of the moratorium on posts. We have lost three now due resignation of Susan and Sandra and Clodagh’s maternity leave.

  • Medical Matters:

Medical Forms have been sent out- 45 children need medication in school time. Completed indemnity forms to be returned and signed in school in presence of witness by 30th September.

Diabetic nurse did training with the relevant staff on 10th September. Two diabetic children have different insulin pumps. Team broken into two- half for each pump.

 

  • Policies:

Staff have volunteered to work on various policies in teams.

Critical incidents to be updated by Critical Incidents team

 

  • PTA

New staff representatives-Susan Savage and Maureen.

Met with chairperson, Susie, on 15th September.

Meetings with FR to be monthly following PTA meetings.

After school activities to commence from week of 29th September. All bookings being done online.

AGM to be held on 14th October.

Desirability of class reps discussed

 

  • Catholic Association

Classes to commence from 29th September

New committee

 

  • School Psychologist, Pol Bond

Coming to school on 27th September

 

  • Special Education

5.25 Special Education teachers in school this year.

5 fulltime SNAS, 1 for Infant day.

System up and running.

New proposals for appointment of SET teachers of concern.

 

  • IT:

New photocopiers installed on 19th September

 

 

  • Other school events:

Intercultural training for staff 22nd September

Music in the Classroom/ Cross Border Orchestra events organised for next term.

5 trainee teachers from St. Pat’s coming in spring term

Proposal for Bollywood fundraiser on 24th October

 

  • An incident where a pupil was reported missing to the school was discussed in detail. The critical Incident Committee are to meet to discuss further.

Chairperson’s Report: Chairperson absent

Treasurer’s Report: Discussed.

Photocopiers

Matter of networking discussed; not complete, installer of points to be consulted.

Cost of texting using Alladin to be examined
