Health Promotion – SOS

Administrator News School Office

As the Health Promoting Schools Initiative has just entered its’ third year in Le Chéile, we would like to launch our next BIG project.

SOS- Switch Off Screens will invite the whole school community to take a break from screens of all sorts 4 times over a period of 4 weeks (one evening per week of the project).

Children will be asked to spend an evening at home without using/viewing/playing with a screen of any kind. Instead, they will be encouraged to spend time reading, being artistic, playing board games, playing sport, chatting, etc. Each week the children will be given a sticker to reward their involvement.
The project was initially launched to the children through a brainstorm/survey session. The children were asked to suggest what activities could be done if there were no screens to use.
The switching off screens will run for the 4 weeks before Easter. Each week will begin on a
Friday.
Feb 22nd- Week 1
Mar 1st- Week 2
Mar 8th – Week 3
Mar 15th – Week 4

Although this will be an “at home” project, in school we plan to switch off our screens in class for a short period during each week of SOS.
We hope you all embrace this initiative and enjoy some quality time away from the screens!
